Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the application of the ethical principles of bundo kanduang in the community of West Sumatera during the covid-19 pandemic. The research method used a phenomenological approach. The data derived from documentation on the application of the bundo kanduang ethical principle during the COVID-19 pandemic in the community. The data processed reduced and presented as an informative explanatory application of the ethical principles of Bundo Kanduang. The results found that Bundo Kanduang's ethical principles occupy a central position in social life in Minangkabau cultured society. Bundo Kanduang is described as a woman who is wise and has ethical principles as a central figure. These principles are not only used as a role model to educate children to have strong character and high morals but also applied to emergency situation such as pandemic situation. The application of Bundo Kanduang ethical principles were used by people of West Sumatera dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic and by local and regional government. © 2022, Association Res Militaris.
