The advancement in precision medicine and the urge to achieve well-beingness have become a motivation for researchers. Researchers have undertaken several modern strategies like a progressive drug delivery system with less toxicity, targeted delivery capacity, higher biodegradability and affordability to serve this purpose. IPN based drug delivery system has been validated to be a successful drug delivery system with the ability to fulfil the predefined specific objective of certain therapeutics. IPN based drug delivery systems gradually, in a few decades, have proved themselves as effective advanced drug delivery systems for their high tunability, biocompatibility, high targeted drug delivery effectiveness etc. Among the various drug delivery systems, IPN has found its broad applicability. Owing to their easy execution towards drug delivery applications, extensive research has been carried out in this area. This review paper has tried to summarise different types, applications and recent modifications on it along with their synthesis, characterisation and applications.
