Abstract

We present characteristics of DSSCs using dyes from plant leaves, flowers and fruits. The leaves, flowers or fruits of pomegranate, beets, geranium, spinach and red onion have been used. Ethanol is used as a solvent. DSSCs using dye from pomegranate fruit extract exhibits an efficiency of 0.61%. The short circuit current density, J(sc) is 3.48 mA cm(-2). The open circuit voltage, V-oc is 0.35 V and the fill factor, FF is 50%. Absorbance peaks dyes for pomegranate can be observed at 320, 370 and 520 nm.
