The rapidly evolving field of transport systems is further changing with the integration of blockchain distributed ledger technology, artificial intelligence (AI), and the Internet of Things (IoT). This integration not only enables automation but also promotes the development of cooperative intelligent transport systems. Despite these advancements, vehicle connectivity, security, privacy, and data retention remain challenging. This paper discusses service-oriented techniques to safeguard system integrity. The paper emphasizes the importance of confidentiality and safety in automotive communications, leveraging the decentralized and adaptable structure of blockchain. The fusion of AI and IoT provides solutions to various analytical, managerial, and real-time monitoring problems, including ledger administration and node-to-node data sharing. Moreover, this paper explores the potential implications of combining these technologies, such as the emergence of flying cars. It identifies research needs and introduces new, secure sensing procedures within a user-centric framework for future transportation by examining previously published frameworks, architectures, and techniques in intelligent transportation systems. Finally, the paper outlines future research areas and proposes solutions to existing problems, emphasizing the need to address implementation issues and prioritize privacy protection as transportation technology continues to evolve.
