The Jossens isotherm is a useful model for describing water contaminant adsorption. This article critically examines several issues that impede its practical application. Initially, it clarifies the common misidentification of the Redlich-Peterson isotherm as the Jossens isotherm. Next, it addresses the challenge of deriving unique parameter values from the original loading-implicit form of the Jossens isotherm due to the high correlation between parameters. To resolve this problem, the article proposes a more robust solution: a loading-explicit form based on the Lambert W function, which facilitates reliable parameter estimation. Finally, the article critiques the current linearized Jossens isotherm, which relies on a trial-and-error method for parameter estimation, and introduces two alternative linearized forms that eliminate the need for this subjective approach.
