Elastomers undergo thermo-oxidative aging when exposed to high temperatures and oxidation, leading to material degradation and potential failure. Understanding this process is crucial for preventing failure and improving elastomer design. This paper reviews the literature on thermo-oxidative aging effects on elastomers, detailing characterization techniques used and discussing impacts on microstructure and physical properties. It also identifies current limitations and future research directions, aiming to enhance understanding and mitigation of thermo-oxidative aging in elastomers.
