Abstract

Connecting multiple microgrids to form interconnected microgrids can improve power distribution systems resiliency and reliability. However, there is uncertainty of balanced power sharing among multiple microgrids while interconnecting the microgrids. To address this issue, in this paper an intelligent module for interconnecting multiple microgrids with self-healing capability is developed by considering the power mismatch between distributed energy sources generation capacity and load demand of all the microgrids. The advantage of the proposed module is its circuitry is simple, flexible and real-time implementation is easy. To validate the performance of the interconnecting module, two microgrid testbeds are considered in this study and real time simulations are carried using real time digital simulator. The results obtained have ensured the efficacy of the developed intelligent interconnecting module. © 2021 IEEE.
