Abstract

The demonstration of a new double pass long wavelength band erbium-doped fiber amplifier (EDFA) configuration with improved gain and noise figure was done. The demonstartion was done by placing a band-pass filter in the output end of the erbium-doped fiber. The amplifier provided a maximum gain enhancement of 1.5 dB with reduction of noise figure by 1.5 dB at a pump power of 83 mW.
